Information from a Science Direct article.

Biologically derived polymers and catalysts as interesting materials – potentially useable for my project?

Principle of photochemical activation towards artificial photosynthesis and organic transformation

A major part of addressing Climate Change is the development of catalysts for a variety of applications

Heterogeneous Catalyst :

Are known for their robustness and ease of recovery. But suffer from poor efficiency and selectivity

Homogeneous Catalyst :

Typically conducted at ambient atmospheric pressure and room temperature. These can be tailored to be highly efficient and selective but often lack the robustness of the heterogeneous catalytic systems,

Photo catalysts :

Utilise light as a source of energy to drive chemical reactions ranging from complex organic transformations to small molecule activation such as water splitting and C02 reduction.
