The clock.

I started to think about how I could incorporate the different data that I wanted into the product. One of the common themes that brought the data together, was time. I thought it would make sense to create a clock of some kind with the data. I thought the clock would be a better choice than a storage unit.

I was interested in having more than one piece of information in the product, specifically these three :

1. Average world (air) temperature

2. Sea levels (the rising of)

3. Air quality (pollution)

These three topics were all available as a live counter from the website The World Counts (previously mentioned in blog 026). A clock was a good start for the product as its something that is seen every day in a household. So I started sketching how to incorporate 3 different data sets and the time, trying to compare todays temperature at this time, to the temperature last year? To visualise how much it has gone up for example?

I bought a clock and deconstructed it to play with the shapes, form and function. These are all the parts inside the clock which I might reuse in my product. There is enough room in the battery pack to incorporate Arduino modules, which I will explore tomorrow!
